I believe you should know the person behind the business card…SO HERE’S MY STORY!
Ever since I was a kid, family has been the most important part of my life. A big reason for that was our home. When I grew up, I wanted to build the same joyful dynamic for my own family. And I wanted to build a home to match.
Family has always been an important part of my journey, both in my personal life and business. Both my parents had a big impact on me. My father had been a real estate agent when I was young, and I became fascinated by houses. Legos were my toy of choice, and I’d spend hours trying to reconstruct our own house out of them.
My mom also had me touring model homes and painting walls at an early age. My family home was one of the first built on our block and, in my childhood, I loved to explore the bare bones of the houses in the neighborhood that were still under construction. I learned about them from the inside out and came home with a lot of cuts and bruises.
Those relationships with my parents made me crave a family of my own. I wanted to form those same close connections with my kids that my parents had formed with me. I met my wife and with her, I discovered the partner I had been dreaming of and hoping for. We were able to form the bond that had been modeled for me growing up.
While I was working in various corporate real estate positions, my wife became pregnant. We were having a baby girl. We were ecstatic to be starting a family of our own! All those things I’d been wanting were becoming a reality.
Sadly, as my new adventure into parenting was just about to begin, my mother passed away after a heroic 20-year battle with breast cancer. I was heartbroken. But her life and the lessons I learned from her would never leave me.
I wanted to honor my mom the best way that I could—by bringing the same love and attention to my family that she did for me. She’d taught me that friends and family, the people I surround myself with, are the true blessings in life. When our children were born, my wife and I built our home on these teachings. But I still needed a way to reflect these values in my professional life. So that’s when I made the switch, started my business, and started selling houses. It was a piece of my childhood that I felt like I shared with my mother.
Now we’re creating those same kinds of memories with our kids, Claire and Jake. And my career allows me to help others find homes to make memories with their own families.
The rewarding elements of my role as Realtor were almost immediately evident. My dad and brother began working with me, interested in renovating homes and doing it together. We renovated and flipped houses as a family. And now, even my kids get in on the action: swinging hammers, picking out tile at Home Depot, and painting walls along with the grownups. It’s an activity that I get to share with them all.
Family is still a central part of my business. My daughter Claire provides her own staging and design consultations alongside mine (in fact, some of the abstract paintings I hang in homes are her hand-painted works of art). Jake hangs paintings in vacant houses and tries different furniture configurations. And I get to work with wonderful families to help them make a home.
I’ve seen firsthand how homes bring families together. I hope I have the opportunity to do that for your family, too.
Being a Realtor can be about so much more than house hunting. I’ve come to love the special connection I get by helping families find their perfect home. I’ve also discovered the financial freedoms of investment properties and helped clients find those same benefits for themselves.
Having a formal education in architecture and real estate management means I fully understand the entire industry: from construction to the final close of a transaction. My work in remodeling and house flipping has given me a keen eye for home improvements. It's also allowed me to create connections with vendors who can handle any repair.
I’ve also become incredibly deft at staging and design, which is my favorite part of the process. To help clients’ homes look their absolute best and sell quickly, I offer a complimentary staging service to every client, free of charge.
And who better to help you find your new Colorado residence than a Colorado native? This is my home. I love living here. I look forward to delivering that same feeling to you.
